Q: What kind motors you can provide?
A: For now, we mainly provide AC Motor, Auto Motor, Brush Motor, H-Vol Motor, BLDC Motor, Gear Motor,Stepper Motor, Hollow Motor, Actuator, Blower, Pump&Valve, Solenoid, Starter and Other components.

Q: Do you have any subsidiary or agent here?
A: We don't have any subsidiary oversea but we will consider that in the future. We are always interested in cooperating with any worldwide company or individual who would be willing to be our local agents to serve our customers more closely and efficiently.

Q: Is it possible to visit your factory?
A: Sure. But please kindly keep us posted a few days in advance. We need to check our schedule to see if we are available then.

Q: May I have a motor with 12V/5000RPM/25mm, fan/car motor or could you tell me what information I should provide to get the motor I want?
A: Normally we recommend the motors based on the size constraints like diameter, length, width, the shaft diameter, rated voltage, no load speed and stall torque or on load speed and on load torque, lifetime requirements and noise level etc. And different motors might be needed for the same application if with different design. If you can send us a picture of your sample with size information, your existing spec or the detailed requirements we mentioned above, we'll see what we can do. The more information you provide; the better for us to provide what you exactly need.

Q: Is there a MOQ for your motors?
A: Yes. The MOQ is between 1000~10,000pcs for different models after sample approval. But it's also okay for us to accept smaller lots like a few dozens, hundreds or thousands for the initial 3 orders after sample approval.
For samples, there is no MOQ requirement. But the less the better (like no more than 5pcs) on condition that the quantity is enough in case any changes needed after initial testing.

Q: Can I get some samples?
A: It depends. If only a few samples for personal use or replacement, I am afraid it'll be difficult for us to provide because all of our motors are custom made and no stock available if there is no further needs. If just sample testing before the official order and our MOQ, price and other terms are acceptable, we'd love to provide samples.

Q: How much I should pay for samples?
A: For low cost samples with quantity no more than 5pcs, we can provide them for free with freight paid by buyer (if clients can provide their courier account or arrange courier to pick them up from our company, it'll be okay with us). And for others, we'll charge sample cost and freight. It's not our aim to earn money by charging samples.
If it matters, we can make a refund once got the initial order.

Q: Could you tell me the lead time for samples and order?
A: For normal dc motor samples, the lead time is around 10~15days and for gear motor samples, it'll be 15~20days.
If there is special requirements like extended shaft, special reduction ratio, lead time will be longer. For orders, the standard lead time is 35days and this time can be shorter or longer based on different model, period and quantity.

Q: Could you send me a price list?
A: For all of our motors, they are customized based on different requirements like lifetime, noise, voltage, and shaft etc. The price also varies according to annual quantity. So it's really difficult for us to provide a price list. If you can share your detailed requirements and annual quantity, we'll see what offer we can provide.

Q: How about the noise level of your motor and do you have quiet motors?
A: Normally we define the noise level (dB) based on the back ground noise and measure distance. There are two kind
noises: mechanical noise and electrical noise. For the former, it's related to the speed and motor parts. For the latter, it's mainly related to the sparks caused by the friction between the brushes and commutator. There is no quiet motor (without any noise) and only difference is the dB value.

Q: Is there a detailed lifetime for your motors?
A: I am afraid not. The lifetime varies a lot for different models, materials and the operating conditions like temp., humidity, duty cycle, input power, and how the motor or gear motor is coupled to the load etc. And the lifetime we normally mentioned is the time when the motor rotate without any stop and the current, speed and torque change is within +/-30% of the initial value. If you can specify the detailed requirements and working condition, we'll make our evaluation to see which one will be suitable to meet your needs.

Q: What kind brushes do you use in the motor?
A: There are two kind brushes we normally use: the metal brush and carbon brush. We choose based on the speed, current and lifetime requirements. For quite small motors, we only have metal brushes while for big ones we only have carbon brushes. Compared with metal brushes, the lifetime of carbon brushes are longer since it will reduce the wear on the commutator. But for low speed motor, the carbon dust might not be able to burn in time which will cause failure too.

Q: What information I should provide except the motor size if I am looking for a vibration motor?
A: For a vibration motor, we will need your help to specify the rated voltage, rated speed or max current, and also the counterweight material, size. And normally there are 4 type materials: SECC (semicircle slices), copper (cylinder), iron
(cylinder) and tungsten alloy (sector). We choose suitable ones based on the cost and vibration strength which is related
to the speed, eccentricity and weight of the counterweight.

Q: Are you motors reversible?
A: For all the low voltage dc motors, they are reversible (when you exchange the electrical poles, they can run in another
direction). For the high voltage dc motors, if clients only need to run the motor in one direction, we'll shift the brushes
by some small angle in reference to the permanent magnet (brush offset). That can favor the required one direction of rotation, but the other direction has higher sparkling and worse performance. The stall torque for the favor rotation will be less, but the max. Efficiency point will be higher.

Q: Is it possible to change the shaft?
A: It depends. Normally the shaft diameter is fixed and we can make it smaller but not bigger. But we do can change the shaft length and shape (knurling, d-shape, hole, screw etc.) after evaluation.

Q: Do you have dual shaft motor?
A: Yes. For most of our dc motors and parallel shaft gear motors, we can arrange shaft from the endcap side then it'll
be dual shaft motors. Please kindly let us know the detailed model then we'll get back to you if we can arrange or not.

Q: What kind gears do you use in the gearbox?
A: Normally we use 3 type gears: metal gear made by hobbing machines in house, sintered metal gear and plastic gear by
tooling (outsourcing). We choose suitable gears based on the performance and cost.

Q: Is it possible for you to develop new motors if we provide the tooling cost?
A: Yes. Please kindly share the detailed requirements like performance, size, annual quantity, target price etc. Then
we'll make our evaluation to see if we can arrange or not.

Q: Is it possible to integrate EMI/EMC suppression elements, cooling fan or PTC inside the motor?
A: For small motor, we can only integrate EMI/EMI suppression elements like varistor and for bigger ones; we can input
other elements like capacitors, chokes, cooling fans. For part of our small motors, we can integrate PTC (need clients to
provide load current and temp. rising requirements). Please contact our sales engineer for more information.

Q: Could you use ball bearing or stainless shaft?
A: We can use stainless shaft for most of the motors (stainless shaft are standard for part of them) and for our RS-3XX,
RS-7XX and RS-9XX series, we can use ball bearing on the endcap side.

Q: Any warrant for the motors you??re providing?

A: We guarantee the quality of the motors during 6 months from the date of shipment based on the motors being used properly as our spec.

General Instructions for Use of Motor:

1.Overload or Stall Condition

The motor temperature would rise gradually due to the internal energy conversion between the windings and iron core during running. The windings will not be burnt under rated load because of the balance between the produced and vented heat. But if it is overloaded or stalled for a long time, the insulation film of copper wires might be dissolved due to high temperature. This will short-circuit the winding which causes high current even damages the motor and driving board. Besides, under overloaded condition, the strength of the gear or other parts attached on the shaft will be affected (tooth broken or wore out). So please make sure that motors are operated under rated working conditions.

2.Motors Working at Lower Speed

For most of the dc motors, we use carbon brushes. When a motor runs, spark occurs in the contact area because of the friction between the brushes and commutator at the timing of the commutation. Carbon dust will accumulate in the commutator slots which might cause short circuit, burn the motor or the driving board if the motor runs at lower speed and the dust couldn't be burned in time. Please kindly pay attention to this condition.

3.Remarks about PWM Controller

The lifetime of the brushes is shorter when the motor is powered with PWM controller not by rated voltage or constant voltage. And the carbon brushes might wear out easily under certain frequency of the PWM controller. Normally the frequency used for dc motors is 10~20KHZ. Heating might also occur because of sympathetic vibration if the frequency of the PWM switch is close to the motor components'. Besides, please be noted that the motor might not run if with integrated electrolytic capacitor under certain frequency. So we suggest motors with varistor inside if the motor is powered by PWM controller.

4.About Inertia and Brake

It is very common that after power off, the motor shaft will still rotate for a while because of the inertia. If instant brake needed, you can short-circuit the positive and negative poles then the power generated by the motor (reverse current) can stop it quickly. But this might increase the motor current and even shorten the lifetime.

5.Lifetime

Motor's lifetime is related to the operating conditions such as the power supplier, duty cycle, and load conditions etc. The lifetime data on our spec is based on the rated testing conditions and motor running in one direction without any stop. It is just for reference only. For actual products, please make full testing to ensure the lifetime is long enough.

6.Assembly

There are screw holes designed for motor assembly. Please kindly refer to the outline and make sure the screw length is in the recommended range. As for the allowable torque, please kindly refer to the related technical standards. Over that range, it might slip the screw.

7.Motor terminals

The motor terminal structures and inner parts might be broken when the soldering temperature is too high. The recommended operating way is using soldering iron 40W, 380 degrees centigrade and less than 3 seconds. Besides, force on the terminals will also break the terminal structure.

8.Axial Force

When you press gear or other parts on the output shaft, support for the other side shaft end will be needed. If it is not possible to apply the support, the press force should be no more than the max allowable force.

9.Shock and Drop

Inner parts might be broken and potential defection might occur when other impacts on the motor happens such as dropping on the ground from high position.

10.The Use of Binding Material

If binding material like glue is used during the assembly, please make sure it will not be added to the output shaft bearing. For some volatile glue, it might also stain the commuatator which affect the motor performance.

Please pay fully attention to the items mentioned above. If other issues during application, please kindly contact JINMOTOR for further information.
